Helping to stock an Emergency Food Cupboard

The YMCA-led Family Centre Carling-Thames is located within Northbrae Public School and is one of six Family Centres in London. The goal of Family Centres is to make it easier for children, youth and families to connect to services in their local neighbourhoods, including cultural and settlement services.

A grant from the Sifton Family Foundation is being used to purchase a variety of healthy foods for the Emergency Food Cupboard at the Family Centre Carling-Thames, supplementing the traditionally donated staples (like beans and apple sauce). In addition, the grant allows the Centre to provide grocery gift cards for families in need so they can purchase healthy perishable foods such as bread, milk, eggs and fresh produce. The Emergency Food Cupboard is accessed by people in need of all ages and multicultural backgrounds, including single-parent families and multiple families living in one household.
